I am a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (MFC85413) in El Dorado Hills, California. I am dedicated to working with my clients to help them find their inner strengths, in order to grow and change in a purposeful and authentic way. It is my belief that when you struggle alone your journey becomes longer and feels more overwhelming. Through couple and family therapy I provide an environment to help cultivate the support you need from the people that matter most.
"I hope you live a life you are proud of. If you find that you are not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again." - F. Scott Fitzgerald
But let's talk about what you may really want to know...what it is like to work with me:
- I view therapy as a collaborative process. I believe that you are ultimately the expert of your life. Through the courage to share your needs, the most change and growth can occur.
- My goal is to help you find your inner strengths and empower you to feel in control of your life. I will challenge you to let go of the things that are keeping you stuck, and support you through the pain that comes with letting go.
- I will never judge you. I believe that the choices we make in life do not define us.
- I believe that every individual is unique and incomparable. Everyone has a story. I seek to listen and join you on your unique journey of healing.
- I believe in the power of change through our relationships with others.
- I like to laugh. Humor can be a strong part of connecting and healing.
My journey as a psychotherapist began while receiving a B.A. degree in Psychology from Sonoma State University. Following this I completed my Psy.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. I grew up in the Bay Area and moved to Sacramento after completing my Masters degree in San Diego, CA. While most of my family is just a 2-hour drive away, I understand the difficulty that comes from being separated by distance from a support system. I am also the wife of a firefighter and sincerely understand the unique demands and rewards of having a partner in public safety, and the community and culture of this field.
I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings with adults, children, and teens. I have vast experience with those that have acute mental illness and their families, and those recovering from, or in the midst of, a major life trauma. I am certified to provide crisis counseling and have experience supporting and advocating for those who have survived sexual assault and domestic violence. I am experienced in providing therapy for families that are facing terminal illness and the grief and loss that is connected to this.
I have extensive experience working with adolescents and teens facing a multitude of struggles, including separation from their families, bullying, school related stressors, self-harm, and relationship difficulties. These things have a great impact on families and other relationships, and are often helped with therapy.

Certifications and Training
I am certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and have considerable experience supporting parents through struggles with difficult child behaviors, and obstacles in building a relationship with their children. PCIT aids in strengthening parents' relationships with their children and provides a set of tools to manage complicated behaviors. I completed my doctoral dissertation by studying the outcomes of PCIT in a community mental health agency and I am well versed in the different effects PCIT has had on diverse families. Learn more about PCIT here.
I am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and use this modality to help my clients to gain a set of skills to help them manage the adversities that traumatic life experiences bring. These skills include relaxation techniques to help manage stress and anxiety, tools to regulate and understand difficult emotions, and methods to manage unruly thoughts that often consume our minds. TF-CBT gives room for re-writing your traumatic experiences and re-exposing yourself to your traumas in a safe and supportive environment. This serves to clean out the wounds from trauma and begins to move us forward from the pain.
How would your life be different if you had safe and caring environment to fight through some of life’s toughest moments? Learn more about TF-CBT and trauma here and contact me here to start your journey of healing, I am ready to help.
I utilize an integrative approach to therapy that is grounded in attachment theory and the belief that through our relationships with others we often define ourselves. I have found useful techniques in a multitude of therapy modalities and adjust my focus during session to the needs you present to me. I draw on Mindfulness and Acceptance Therapy, Psychodynamic, Existential, and Experiential therapies. I often incorporate cognitive behavioral and solution focused techniques to address specific symptom reduction. When working with couples I utilize techniques from both Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method. My approach overall is guided by compassion and authenticity.
Whether you’re looking for support through a major life transition, suffering from the paralyzing sting of anxiety, the darkness of depression and grief, or hoping to mend a broken relationship – I am ready to help.
